Craft and Style
I am a self-taught artist. My mediums of choice are soft and oil pastels but I'll mix in other mediums occasionally. Pastels separates me from many other artists' typical use of acrylic and oil paints. Fine lines with pastels is very difficult to achieve compared to brushes. My art is drawn on canvas, matting board, quilted paper, and print paper. I have no set style other than trying to capture realism. The themes vary with each art piece. Some may have a message, story, portrait, or created to challenge myself. This helps me progress and to prevent boredom.

A Labor of Love
The range in my art is diverse because I have many interests that inspires me. The challenge of a new and different art piece motivates me to keep up with my passion. To complete each art piece takes as little as eight hours to as much as 100 hours. I truly love the art and find it therapeutic to invest all that time into one art piece. It gives me great satisfaction knowing that my ultimate goal of entertaining the viewer was achieved.

Techniques - Pastels are excellent for blending colors when trying to capture realism. I normally use pictures from the Internet, magazines, books, photographs, and models for reference. Other crafts and mediums are also used to create a certain effect or reflection of light. I'll even get a few inches away from the artwork and use tiny pieces of pastels with my finger tips when drawing small detail.

Happy People - "Fortunately, I have the joy of living surrounded by Sergio's work. Such a range of ideas and themes while still clearly carrying his unique style. I felt drawn to his pieces from the moment I was first exposed."
Sandra Hensley
"I own five pieces, two original, and will always continue to enjoy the vitality of the details in the paintings. The different, mathematically detailed themes represent art at its finest." J.T.
